CASSY BIO:
Catherine Britton aka Cassy, left England for Austria with her Caribbean father and Austrian mother in 1975. She spent her childhood in Vienna and Lower Austria, starting to sing and study music at an early age.

After a few attempts at the University, she finally decided to study drama and acting. She finished her three-year training at the Drama Centre London and returned to her hometown of Vienna, where she started to work in the theater. After a while she gave up acting, realizing she couldn’t stand the profession.

Her first professional step into the electronic musicworld was as a vocalist for Elin aka Autorepeat “Music Takes Me Higher” on Sabotage Records. Electric Indigo was able to convince Cassy to not only involve herself as a singer, but to also learn how to mix records.

After her first DJ-gigs in Vienna, Munich and further productions, she met Dave The Hustler in Geneva where they started working on a project for Mental Groove- Cassy & Dave The Hustler. Geneva was also where she met Luciano and co-produced “La Ondita”, one of the album tracks on Lucien-N-Luciano’s “Blind Behaviour” on Peacefrog and “Alpine Rocket” together with Mathew Jonson for Perlon.

With her move to Berlin in March 2003, inspired by the clubscene and the numerous number of artists living there and the abundance of the music she fell in love with, she started becoming increasingly active in Berlin’s clubscene and shortly after, became involved in projects with artists such as Steve Bug and Ricardo Villalobos. She also started her soloproject, producing and singing.

Ever since, she has founded her own label « Cassy » where she will be concentrating on releasing her own music, and she has recently finished her first mix compilation for Berlin’s Panoramabar, her club residency.

DIGITAL RELEASE AVAILABLE SOON FROM THE BEST DIGITAL RETAILERS:

Bong n’ Gong starts off gently, with heavy reverbs and precise delays creating a feeling of space and depth. But that space is quickly filled when the main hook is unleashed. Simple driving synth lines and neat percussion keep things moving forward, while all sorts of reverb-soaked whips and crackles give your brain something tasty to chew on.

False Trolls is, quite literally, a different beast. A bit-crushed sample provides a groove that the shuffling percussion can play around. What starts out as few discordant notes and synth flourishes combine as the track progresses to create a beautifully unified melody, which is slowly and gently deconstructed as the track reaches its conclusion.

Hot in Hat is a down-the-line floor burner. Kicks and bass combining to good effect while a big lead synth keeps things lively.

Make nor Brake has an infectious funk edge to it. Its Villalobos-inspired rhythm combines snaps and cracks with gloopy, fluid breaks to create an infectious groove. Meanwhile indecipherable vocals and synth stabs combine to give the track a real energy that drives it forward.

Again, Oval Seasonal-z lulls you into a false sense of security. It starts off nice and simple. This time our man gradually builds on this solid base, creating a collage of disconcerting but strangely compelling sounds that work together to create an awesome, danceable rhythm.

Futt To Fino is a greek born and now Manchester based producer. This is his debut EP for Metroline Limited. Futt To Fino incorporates the element of improvisation, in electronic music production. The music is produced by improvising using computer sequencers, grooveboxes, synths, samplers, live fx, vocals, e.t.c. Creating electronic music with no preconceived structure.

[Arch038] Michel Lloyd - Rêve Analogue LP

“Rêve Analogue”
By Michel Lloyd
cat. Arch038
Format: Digital, for free

The final release of 2007 for Archipel brings about Michel Lloyd’s “Rêve Analogue” which is an exceptionally detailed and highly rhythmic work of seven pieces in total.

“Autobahn” switches on the ignition with warm and hypnotic style which takes the aurally syncopated scenic route in an elastically stretched manner.

Title track “Rêve Analogue” is a heavy set slab of gooey plasticine contortion set to a rigid rhythm and mentally skewed melodies. “Koordinatepunkten” solidly drives on with pseudo-motorik precision locking the listener into tightly wound hypnosis. “Abbrechen” continues growing in phases of rhythm in a synchronized shower of caustic aural mercury rain.

“Bi-Polaire” is more bright eyed and upbeat with its seductive melody bending and twisting around itself in a flurry of lysergic candy floss snow. “Éolienne” is again on the upswing with bendy swirling melody and warped ambiances wrapping themselves tightly in a bundle of glowing fluid glass.

“Forgive Me” closes things off with a frantically warm, candy coated melody inset with a slowly distorted introverted monologue.

Savage Methods Podcast - Episode 25 - 1 Year Later and Still Going Strong!

www.savagemethods.com

Curly began listening to house and trance music in 1996. The first event he ever attended was Coachella in 2002. Seeing his favorite dj’s in person changed his life forever.

He picked up dj’ing in the summer of 2004 while still a student at UCSB. He went on to do a radio show at KCSB 91.9FM on the campus of UCSB from October of 2004 until December of 2006. The show was called (TECHNO)LOGICAL Radio, “Your souce for the best in electronic dance music spun by live dj’s.” The show featured live mixing from Curly and other local dj’s, as well as pre-recorded mixes from dj’s from all over the West Coast.

Past guests of the (TECHNO)LOGICAL Radio show included The Blacklight Special, Marco Belli, Vittorio, Professor West, DJ Sparkle, Rob Bartlett, Jamar Hughes, Calvin & Hogg, DJ Kenosis, Bas, Ghosh (Colorado), Andy Alba, Mike Lord, DJ Michael Conway, and many more. Featured mixes came from Ghosh & Nitemer (Colorado), Milithor, Electrophile, Junior Chavez, Bas & Clovis, and Thee-o.

The exposure from the (TECHNO)LOGICAL Radio show ultimately landed Curly his first 2 gigs at the world famous Spundae, which was hosted then at Circus Disco in Los Angeles. In October of 2005, Curly was the opening DJ in the loft playing alongside Mike Lord, DJ Gil La, and Bob Motamedi. In the main room that night were the Sycophant Slags (Mr. C & Francis Harris). Curly was then invited back in April of 2005 to be the opening DJ in the loft playing alongside Brian Bartel, Jonathan Morning, and others. In the main room that night were DJ Rap & Max Graham.

Curly began playing out in the Santa Barbara clubs when he threw his first event in Santa Barbara in May of 2006 called ELEVATION. The event was held 2 times a month at Club Zelo from May-August in 2006 (under the Debut Events promotions banner, www.debut-events.com, with partner Melodie Tao), was held once at O’malley’s as a one-off in September of 2006, then was held from October 2006 until April 2007 as a weekly at SB’s newest nightclub called Couchez (under the Fix Promotions banner, www.myspace.com/fixpromotions). In March of 2007, Curly made his return to Circus Disco in LA to host the loft for a special one-time edition of ELEVATION.

The purpose of ELEVATION was to expose people to new sounds and for other new up & coming dj’s to get experience playing out in a club. Past special guests include Bas & Clovis, DJ Ducky, Calvin & Hogg, Max Cheddar, Junior Chavez, Thee-o, and many more. ELEVATION is taking a brief hiatus but will return with more events by the summer of 2007.

The (TECHNO)LOGICAL radio show and the successful weekly party ELEVATION caught the attention of sbtherapy, Santa Barbara’s prominent house music promotion. Curly became resident in November of 2006, joining other residents DJ Winner, DJ Nagai, DJ Pat, DJ Vittorio, Calvin Riley, DJ Hogg, Oliver Twist, Nigel Richards, and Charles Feelgood. Curly has opened for the likes of DJ Spider, Justin Hoffman, Mark Lewis, Gene Farris, Jay-J, and Justin Martin.

Curly’s style is heavily influenced by his favorite genres in electronic dance music such as deep house, funky house, tech house, minimal techno, electro house, progressive house, progressive trance, trance, and techno.

In April of 2007, Curly decided to create a podcast on itunes called the “Savage Methods Podcast.” The podcast features mixes from him and guest dj’s from all over the world.

The official launch of the Savage Methods Podcast was on April 16, 2007.

New episodes will be posted frequently, so be sure to subscribe in order to receive these excellent mixes!

Deeper Moods Presents: BRUNO PRONSATO LIVE PA [Saturday, April 26th, 2008]

Seattle producer Bruno Pronsato (aka Steven Ford) took several giant steps in 2005 toward the peak of the experimental techno mountain. Both on vinyl and onstage, Pronsato kept up a hectic pace of production and performance, catalyzing listeners and crowds in Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Mexico, throughout the United States, and a triumphant set at Montreal’s Mutek festival. Twelve-inches on esteemed labels like Orac, Musique Risquée, Milnor Modern, Philpot, and Telegraph further elevated his stature and built his international fan base.

A sound scientist whose work is equally playful and rigorous, Pronsato deploys a canny use of space and idiosyncratically fashioned rhythms to disorient and build suspense-like some 21st-century Miles Davis or Eric Dolphy of the laptop. Despite being a minimal-techno artist, Pronsato offers a palette that’s as full of unexpected patterns and meticulously rendered textures as a Wassily Kandinsky painting.

Pronsato’s compositions unsettle in original ways, yet they also slyly tickle funnybones. Often both humorous and erotic, his cuts are the wild cards that adventurous DJs pull out when they want to take the dance floor to strange new levels of motion. Therefore, Pronsato’s releases have become elite selectors’ secret weapons of beguilingly baffling quirkiness that still move asses.

Unsurprisingly, 2006 is promising to be as eventful as last year. As demand for his music has waxed, Pronsato has accordingly increased his productivity while maintaining his usual exacting quality control standards. March will bring Pronsato’s debut 12 for Hello? Repeat while summer 2006 will see EPs issued by Orac and Telegraph (watch for the last two editions of the four-part Limeworks series), plus another collaboration with Argentinean Franco Cinelli for Milnor Modern (Picaro, their first joint effort from late ‘05, contains some of Pronsato’s most flavorful club bangers). A temporary residence in Holland will enable Pronsato to spend even more time in 2006 devastating European audiences with his uniquely psychedelic and funky techno live sets.
